“Ems and JJ had sex when she and I said we were going to be only friends, I know that. But it only makes me feel like she had no problem to choose another guy instead of me. Yeah, it sometimes makes me doubt of how much she loves me. I know she had a fight with her sister only because of me, but I wonder if that fight was necessary and I was only an excuse. God, I love her, I don’t want to believe any of that… I’m such a mess…”

“It’s incredible that instead of talk she had sex with Cook… with Cook!! And couldn’t she have told me before? I mean, we have been a few weeks dating now, she could have told me. But, no. I had to find out by Cook, it’s just incredible. On top of that she dares to compare her and Cook with JJ and me. That was just once, between friends and it wasn’t like I wanted... Well, obviously I wanted but… Arggg”

Emily reaches her house and slams the door of her room. She jumps into her bed and stays there with her head under the pillow for a while. Katie comes out of the bathroom and into their room.

-What are you doing here? Something’s wrong with Naomi?

-Yeah… we had a fight, I guess – she answered from under the pillow.

-Can’t be that bad. Are you gonna have a shower and change? JJ and I aren’t going to wait for you.

-Yeah, sure.

Emily has a shower, some hot water would make things better. When she comes out, Katie hasn’t got dressed yet. She knew she and JJ would have to wait for Katie and no the other way around. She waits silently, looking at her phone. She wants so much it would start ringing…

Katie is nervous. She isn’t sure why. She stares at her wardrobe and doesn’t seem to find anything she likes, although she has a lot of options. She opens Emily’s side of the wardrobe and finds a t-shirt and a skirt she likes, so she tries it on. Yeah, she looks good with it.

-Ems… can I borrow this?

-I don’t know why you ask, you already have it on… It isn’t like you would accept a no.

When they get to JJ, he and Maria have been waiting for a while.

-Hey Emily, I didn’t know you were coming with us…

-I… I wasn’t, I just happened to be at home.

-Yeah… so you and Naomi had a fight.

-Is it that obvious?

-Well, you’ve been inseparable since the love ball…

-You have a point…

-So… what was it about? – Katie asks.

-Just… just some mistakes we did before being together.

-Oh… that’s me.

-Sorry JJ…

-You weren’t dating, why should you have a fight over it? – Katie doesn’t understand, she hasn’t had a serious relationship in a while.

-We weren’t technically dating, but…

-Naomi! – Maria says happy. All of them had forgotten she was there. They look to the girl and see her waving to a blonde girl in the entrance of the club. Naomi doesn’t seem to notice or maybe she just doesn’t want to notice and gets in.

-I’ll catch with you later –says Emily. She doesn’t want to meet her just yet. She needs to get ready, to come up with something to say. She isn’t angry anymore, but she has her pride.

The rest get to the entrance and they find Effy and Freddie just arriving. Katie holds JJ’s hand and gets him into the club. They introduce themselves to Maria and then they do some talk with Thomas at the door, while Effy doesn’t stop staring Maria. They get into the club, for free, thanks to Thomas, and suddenly Maria disappears in between the people dancing.

-I think that girl is keeping something.

-She doesn’t speak a word of English, Effy. Sure she is keeping something.

-That’s not it…

Katie lets JJ free in the middle of the dance floor. She didn’t want to cross a word with Effy and Freddie, they hurt her so much...

JJ doesn’t like to dance too much and he tries to get away but Katie reaches his ears and whispers to him.

-Please, don’t leave me…

-Please?

She starts to dance wildly while he moves his foot and head to the rhythm of the music. Some guys try to dance with her, but she wouldn’t let them. She doesn’t want that. Suddenly, she feels a hard push in her back and she falls into JJ’s arms that are there to hold her. JJ shivers and tries to come up with something.

-A-are you ok? – He finally asks.

-Yes… thanks. – She doesn’t let go of his arms – You have great muscles, JJ. – She pushes ‘accidentally’ more into JJ’s arms.

-You… smell sweet. – he gulps.

Katie raises her head and smiles widely, while she pushes JJ to the bathroom, doing her way to his neck.

Effy finally finds Maria asking for a drink. She turns around with a beer in her hand and offers to her.

-Freddie? – Maria asks.

-He will be somewhere getting stoned. – Maria nods absently – It won’t work with me, you know? – She keeps nodding – I’m just trying to figure out what are you doing and why.

Maria stops nodding and fixes her dark brown eyes into Effy’s blue ones while she smiles. Suddenly Cook appears and grabs Effy’s waist first until she pulls him away. Then he turns to Maria.

-Be careful, Cook.

-Why? Are you jealous? – he turns to face Effy.

-She is cleverer than you think…

-What…? – but when he turns again to Maria, she is gone. He shrugs and gets a beer.

-Hey guy, look at that, you’re going to lose it. – The bartender says pulling some kind of paper out of his shirt pocket.

-What the fuck… - he makes a ball of paper and drops it while searching across the room. He spots Naomi in the other side and makes his way to her.

Naomi doesn’t know what she’s doing there. Besides Emily, she hasn’t many friends. But she is sure she would find her in the club and she needs to at least see her. She has passed the hours in her room, looking to a random point of the wall and looking to her phone every time she felt a vibration. Later she started to watch her phone, trying to do some kind of telekinesis. Her mother phoned twice and Thomas once, asking her if she was gonna come. She is good at telekinesis but she definitely needs more practice.

-Hey pretty… - Cook says grabbing her waist.

-What the fuck you think you’re doing? – she pulls him away.

-Only what you asked… - he starts again going down her ass.

She gets free and slaps him in the face. She starts her way out of the club.

-Wait!

Cook stops her in the hall and so they start fighting. They don’t notice Maria between the people gathered around, but Effy does.

-What do you think you’re doing? – Maria doesn’t pay any attention to her and keeps writing in her phone – I’ve said, what the fuck do you think you’re doing? – She grabs her wrist and Maria shows her the phone: SMS sent to Emily. Effy looks at it with her mouth open and gets the phone. It isn’t Maria’s, it’s… Naomi’s. She looks into the sent messages and finds the one just sent with three simple letters: SOS – You little bastard…

Effy turns around still holding Maria’s wrist and they see how Emily makes her way into the center of the circle. In it, Naomi and Cook keep fighting or well, at least Naomi does.

-I thought you wanted!! – Cook is looking down while Naomi keeps slapping him.

-You!! You, mother fucker!! I’ve said always NO. I didn’t want to hook up with you while the elections, didn’t want when you won and don’t want now, so do you hear me?? – she keeps slapping, angrier – do you hear me?

-Yes, yes!! I fucking respected you then, didn’t I? You stopped!! It wasn’t right, you said! We only made out coz you said so! And now you come with that fucking note, so just… leave me alone!

-What note, you fucking liar? Are you high already? – She stops slapping him and he stands up. By the face she makes, she has no idea what he is talking about. He stands there, just confused and Naomi, still angry, makes her way out of the club for the night.

Only a red head runs after her pushing Cook into the crowd.

-Hey girls. My girlfriend just left me… I’m so depressed… would you cheer me up?

Effy and Maria couldn’t help but laugh at the brief time it took him to recover.

-I’ll get you a beer if you promise not to tell anyone… just for a while– says finally Maria

-Ok, but... you have to tell me everything about this…

-Deal – she smiles and grabs Effy’s elbow, pushing her to the bar.
